Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (any kind, including skim, whole, or almond milk)
  • ⅔ cup vegetable oil (can substitute with canola oil or melted butter)

Add-ins

  • 1 cup peeled and diced apples
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Cinnamon Sugar Swirl

  • ⅔ cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your loaf pans to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, beat together the eggs, milk, and vegetable oil until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing gently until the batter is just moist without overmixing to keep the bread tender.
  5. Fold in Apples and Cinnamon: Carefully fold in the peeled and diced apples along with the tablespoon of ground cinnamon to distribute flavors evenly.
  6. Fill Pans: Pour the batter into the greased loaf pans, filling each only to about two-thirds full to allow room for the bread to rise properly.
  7. Add Cinnamon Sugar Swirl: In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar for the topping. Sprinkle it over the batter in the loaf pans, then use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the top of the batter.
  8. Bake the Bread: Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Baking time may vary slightly depending on your oven and pan size.
  9. Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pans for about 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Do not overfill loaf pans; fill only 2/3 full to allow room for rising.
  • Use toothpick test to check doneness; if it comes out clean, bread is done.
  • Substitute milk with any type you prefer including almond milk to make it dairy-free.
  • Vegetable oil can be replaced with canola oil or melted butter for different flavor profiles.
  • For larger loaves, use two 1-pound loaf pans and bake for 50-60 minutes, adjusting as needed.
  • Can be made into mini muffins using a muffin tin, baking for 12-17 minutes.
  • Store bread in a sealed bag or wrap at room temperature for up to 2-3 days; refrigerate for up to 5-6 days.
