Ingredients

Scale

Slider Rolls

  • 12 count package slider rolls

Garlic Butter Mixture

  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tsp minced fresh parsley

Filling

  • 2/3 cup basil pesto, homemade or store-bought (divided)
  • 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan. Set aside.
  2. Slice the Rolls: Place the unwrapped package of slider rolls on a cutting board. Using a serrated knife, carefully slice the entire package horizontally, keeping the rolls connected. Remove the top half and place the bottom half in the prepared baking pan.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, and fresh parsley. Mix well and set aside.
  4. Layer Pesto and Chicken: Spread half of the pesto evenly over the bottom half of the rolls. Layer the shredded chicken on top of the pesto, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Add Top Rolls and Pesto: Spread the remaining pesto over the cut side of the top half of the rolls. Place the top half, pesto side down, over the cheese layer in the pan.
  6. Brush with Garlic Butter: Brush the prepared garlic butter mixture over the top of the assembled sliders. Sprinkle with salt and pepper if desired.
  7. Bake Covered: Loosely cover the pan with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  8. Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sliders are heated through and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Recipe makes 12 sliders but can easily be doubled using a larger rimmed baking sheet. Bake time remains the same.
  • Using a rotisserie chicken saves time and adds great flavor.
  • For an extra crispy top, broil the sliders for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • You can substitute mozzarella with provolone or fontina cheese for a different twist.
