Ingredients

Scale

Nuts and Seeds

  • 75g almonds
  • 55g cashews
  • 30g pecans
  • 40g pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds

Other Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt
  • 50g dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or 350°F to ensure the perfect baking environment for the nut mixture.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the almonds, cashews, pecans, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, a pinch of salt, and maple syrup. Mix well so that all the nuts and seeds are evenly coated with the syrup and salt for flavor.
  3. Form Squares: Press the nut mixture firmly into your choice of moulds, such as a square silicone ice tray, to shape them into squares ready for baking.
  4. Bake: Bake the filled moulds in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the nuts are golden brown and crunchy.
  5. Cool: Remove from the oven and let the squares cool completely to set their shape and enhance their crunch.
  6. Add Chocolate: Drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the cooled nut squares or dip each square individually into the chocolate for a rich coating.
  7. Set Chocolate: Refrigerate the chocolate-coated squares just until the chocolate hardens and sets.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Once set, enjoy your homemade dark chocolate nut squares as a nutritious and satisfying snack.

Notes

  • Use a silicone ice tray for easy removal of the nut squares.
  • You can substitute maple syrup with honey if preferred.
  • Make sure the nut mixture is packed firmly into the moulds to prevent crumbling.
  • Store the squares in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a vegan version, ensure the dark chocolate is dairy-free.
