Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole is a hearty and comforting Italian-inspired baked dish featuring layers of cheese ravioli, ground beef, creamy ricotta-sour cream mixture, marinara sauce, and a blend of melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Perfect for family dinners or potlucks, this casserole is easy to assemble and delivers rich, cheesy flavors with a satisfying meaty texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Ravioli

  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauces and Cheese Mixture

  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Cheeses

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prepare it for the casserole assembly.
  2. Prepare Ravioli: Cook the frozen cheese ravioli according to the package directions until al dente. Drain thoroughly and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Brown the Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and no longer pink, then drain excess fat.
  4. Mix Ricotta Layer: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, sour cream, and Italian seasoning to create a creamy, herby cheese mixture.
  5. Assemble the Casserole: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the cooked ravioli evenly over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta-sour cream mixture on top. Add half of the browned ground beef, follow with more marinara sauce, and sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat these layers with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Rest and Serve: Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes after baking to set and cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Make sure ravioli is cooked al dente to avoid mushy texture after baking.
  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or Italian sausage for variation.
  • For a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce or meat.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • To reduce calories, use low-fat ricotta and sour cream, and lean ground beef.
