Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 46 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

Sour Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 1½ cups sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Garnish (Optional)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Prepare Chicken: Arrange the boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs in a single layer inside the greased baking dish, ensuring they are spaced evenly for even cooking.
  3. Mix Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until all ingredients are evenly incorporated into a creamy mixture.
  4. Coat Chicken: Spread the sour cream and cheese mixture evenly over each piece of chicken, fully smothering them to ensure every bite is flavorful.
  5. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil to keep the moisture in and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, allowing the chicken to cook through while the cheese melts.
  6. Finish Baking Uncovered: Remove the foil and optionally sprinkle additional cheddar cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the topping is golden and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired, and serve hot for a delicious, creamy meal.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier result.
  • For a richer flavor, try mixing in a bit of cream cheese with the sour cream.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, especially salt and paprika.
  • If you prefer a crispier top, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes to complement the creamy sauce.
